Ithaca College

The first weekend of the spring semester was an exciting time for game developers at Ithaca College. The Global Game Jam, taking place from January 29th to the 31st, took place at event sites in 93 countries all over the world, including at Ithaca College.

Sixteen students participated in the 48-hour marathon event. Together, they grouped into three teams and made three incredible games—"Cellphone Simulator 64," "Lab Rats," and "The Smallest of Sad Faces :c"—all based on this year's theme, "Ritual." The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is the world's largest video game creation event taking place around the world, an experience for professionals and students alike that is relaxed, fun, and entirely focused on game development. Ithaca College has hosted the Global Game Jam for three years in a row, and has seen the local site grow each year. The Global Game Jam site at IC was organized by the IC Game Developers club, the Ithaca College Women in Computing Club, and Nathan Prestopnik, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science.
