Memoirist Abigail Thomas Reads Wednesday, March 2Contributed by Eleanor Henderson on 02/27/16 The School of Humanities and Sciences and the Department of Writing are pleased to present a reading by acclaimed memoirist Abigail Thomas, Distinguished Visiting Writer in Nonfiction. Thomas will read from her new memoir, What Comes Next and How to Like It, at 7:30pm on Wednesday, March 2nd in Clark Lounge in Campus Center. The reading is free and open to the public. A question-and-answer period and book-signing will follow. Abigail Thomas is the author of three books of fiction—Getting Over Tom, An Actual Life, and Herb’s Pajamas—and three memoirs—Safekeeping: Some True Stories from a Life, A Three Dog Life, and most recently What Comes Next And How to Like It (Scribner, 2015). A national best-seller, A Three Dog Life was named one of the best books of 2006 by the Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post and won the 2006 Inspirational Memoir Award given by Books for A Better Life. About What Comes Next and How to Like It, Anne Lamott said, “This may be the most honest book I’ve ever read, by one of the most beautiful writers I know–dizzyingly truthful, often funny, lyrical, wise.” Thomas lives, writes, and paints in Woodstock, New York.
