 The Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs is proud to present awards to outstanding members of the Ithaca College community. Student awards recognize the individual's contribution to their co-curricular life at the college, their growth in leadership roles, and their creative involvement in campus life.  The 2016 OSEMA Recognition Ceremony, which will recognize recipients of the awards, will take place on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 4:30-6:30pm in Emerson Suites.

 Each year, the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OSEMA) recognizes the outstanding contributions ALANA students have made to the Ithaca College community with various awards and honors. We are now accepting nominations for the 2016 ALANA Senior Awards as we continue to highlight the achievements and work of our graduating classes.

  • Inspiration Award- Presented to students who have shown empathy, helpfulness, and a willingness to go above and beyond in support of their peers.
  • Chaves/Lorde Social Justice Award- Presented to students who have increased awareness of issues of social justice and /or cultural competence in the Ithaca College community.
  • Chawla/Ochoa Academic Achievement Award- Presented to students who have shown a commitment to enhancing their educational experience through scholarly pursuits, while maintaining a high level of academic achievement (cumulative 3.3 GPA). Note: This award is intended for students who have done outstanding academic work outside the classroom in their field of interest: i.e. research, conference presentations, published writings, etc.
  • Chung/Thorpe Leadership Award- Presented to students who have increased the profile of the ALANA community by participating in leadership roles throughout their Ithaca College career.
  • DuBois/Mandela Award for Scholarship: Leadership & Service- Presented to students for their significant scholarly achievement (cumulative 3.5 GPA or above) and exemplary contributions to the ALANA community.

The African-Latino Society (ALS) Memorial scholarship is awarded to a high-achieving African-American, Latino/a, Asian, or Native American (ALANA) student at Ithaca College who has made significant contributions to multicultural awareness and to the well-being of ALANA students on the Ithaca College Campus.  This scholarship aims to honor a student who has worked to promote the political, social, economic, and cultural welfare of ALANA Students at IC and the greater Ithaca community. The ideal candidate is one who has educated and empowered fellow students of color, strengthened the ALANA Community through programs, policies, and/ or service, and has nurtured and encouraged academic excellence.
