Q&A with film director Klaudia Kovacs

Job Hall 160

A sociopolitical historical documentary-thriller about the international decline of communism and the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian revolution.

The film encompasses the tense Cold War era (1945–1991) and presents the rivalry of the superpowers during that time. It shows the 1956 Hungarian Revolution as the first catalyst for the future decline of the communist system in 1989.

Torn from the Flag participated in the 2009 Oscar competition in the “Best Documentary” category. The film has portions in Italian, English and Hungarian, all with translation.

Klaudia Kovacs and her films have been awarded with the Hero of the Freedom Fight Award by the President of the Republic of Hungary, a Certificate of Celebration for Contribution to Cinema, Art and Culture by the City of Los Angeles, and a film of hers was also selected for the American Film Institute, AFI FEST Milestone Selection - described as "celebrating the best of the best" - along with films by Ingmar Bergman and Michelangelo Antonioni. During her international and American career Klaudia Kovacs has worked on over 40 film, theater, and television projects.
