Two national thought leaders on issues related to Women in the Information Technology field - Clare Van Den Blink, CIO, Pace University and Katie Vale, Vice President for Information and Library Services and Librarian of Bates College - will be hosting a panel discussion on that topic on Thursday, March 24th at 10:00 AM in the Klingenstein Lounge, as part of Educational Technology Day.

Women hold fewer than 30% of all tech industry and academic jobs in spite of graduating from STEM programs, and fewer than 25% of those women hold leadership positions. To even the employment field, women need to be encouraged and recruited for CS programs and technical careers. In addition, organizational culture needs to adapt if women are to remain in these fields. What are the personal characteristics and responsibilities of women entering the technology arena? What are larger policy and cultural barriers that all of us in IT need to address? How can we enlarge the pipeline to be more inclusive overall?

The panel presentation will be followed by an informal discussion session with the presenters immediately following in the McDonald Lounge.

This is one of over 50 sessions that are part of our 26th annual Educational Technology Day at Ithaca College on Thursday, March 24th from 9 AM to 4 PM in the Campus Center.  No registration is required for members of the Ithaca College community.  Complete information is available on the Ed Tech Day Website: www.ithaca.edu/edtechday
