·             Proposed Principles of Shared Governance**

Ø  Representation

Ø  Empowerment

Ø  Responsibility

Ø  Transparency

Ø  Transparency is one of the most important ones, because that is something that we have been lacking. So we really need to work on it.

Ø  I don’t understand the responsibility part of it.

Ø  We feel that people need to buy into this, and that people need to be involved. I think we are feeling that there has been a lot of blame games without being interested in taking the blame. It is easy to say that people are responsible when they want to shoot out a comment, but to actually know takes a little bit of getting informed.

Ø  We are shooting to make sure that groups on campus feel empowered to be a part, not just responsible.

Ø  For each of them it might be useful to go through and define what you actually mean for each of the words. Think about what you mean for each of the words so we can get a better picture of it.

Ø  If you want something that is representative, maybe you should have an open application for people to apply for seats on the committee.

Ø  Applications are tough because it depends on who looks at the application.

Ø  The administrative assembly is the only one that is rushed right now. Some of these people are also faculty and staff, we wanted only people that were pure admin assembly.

Ø  I think specifics of the words would help.

Ø  Is there going to be a certain term you can serve on this?

Ø  This task force will dissolve by October to have whatever we need, and then whatever we come up with will include all of those details, including terms.

Ø  I want continuity in the students.

Ø  Do you have specifics for how it will be set up in terms of representation?

Ø  We are meeting again on the 21st, in that meeting we will take all of the information and figure out how to assess these. Then we will meet on April 8th, we will have retreat off campus where we will dive into the “meat and potatoes” of the docs. We are going to have some sessions, where in campus center we will have a map of what we are thinking and people can give comments. On the 21st another meeting, finalizing and then bring to board.
