Matthew Holtmeier Writes on Electronic Labyrinth for National Film ArchiveContributed by Jackie Paul on 03/15/16 An expanded essay on Electronic Labyrinth: THX 1138 4EB (1983) by Matthew Holtmeier, Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in Screen Studies, was recently published by the Library of Congress for its list of films inducted into the National Film Archive. His essay identifies Electronic Labyrinth as an important precursor to the development of Industrial Light and Magic, a visual effects company that has shaped the past 40 years of American film.
