School of Music Faculty Nicholas Walker & Elizabeth Simkin were featured on NPR's Performance Today on Friday, March 18, 2016. 

Their performance of Walker's Praxis showcases the Walker Simkin Duo in collaboration with Brian Dozoretz, Manager of Recording Services, and Sound Recording Technology student, Deniz Arkali as engineer.

Nicholas Walker is an Associate Professor of Music, and the double bass professor at Ithaca College, as well as the President-Elect & Artistic Director/2017 Convention Chair for the International Society of Bassists. Elizabeth Simkin is an Associate Professor of Music and cello professor at Ithaca College.

Their collaborative music partnership spans a decade, and includes duo recitals, chamber music, early music, contemporary music, orchestral music, and original compositions. This duo project features original repertoire by Nicholas Walker which the duo has workshopped into an hour-long, programatic set featuring tuneful melodies, atmospheric textures, lyrical virtuosity, extended techniques, playful improvisation, and fun grooves. This performance was recorded in June at the New Directions Cello Festival at Ithaca College, and was broadcast on nearly 300 public radio stations across the country and reaches approximately one and a half million listeners.
