As part of our Chemistry and Biochemistry Seminar Series, the Department of Chemistry welcomes back alumnus Ryan Wibby '07 to discuss his experience opening his own brewery.

Ryan's talk will focus on the science of beer, his experiences in the beer industry, and the process he went through to start his own brewery.

This looks like an interesting presentation, but the editors of Intercom need to
correct their usage. Ryan Wibby is not an alumni--he's an alumnus. The word
alumnus is Latin. In English, we use the Latin forms of this word. That means
alumnus (singular) and alumni (plural) for males, and alumna (singular) and
alumnae (plural) for plurals. To get around the gender problem of the plural
when there is a mixed group of male and female graduates, the form alumni/ae
is often used.
