Have your students come and hear Dr. Luke Keller and Senior Madison Mangano (B.S., May 2016), Department of Physics and Astronomy, speak about research and the Ithaca experience with a presentation titled: “Listening to the Atoms and Molecules of Distant Solar Systems” at 8:30 am in Emerson A, Campus Center.

“We present the sounds of atoms and molecules commonly observed in space and compare them to sonified spectra of newly forming solar systems,” said Keller. “In just minutes, an audience of non-astrophysicists will be using these sounds to describe their physical characteristics; we’ll be a room full of astrophysicists!”

Have your students support their classmates, fellow students, and colleagues by attending some of the  400+ students presenting their work, including 6 musical, communications,  and theatre performances, and over 55+ student poster presentations by attending from 9:25 AM – 3:50 PM in the Campus Center.  The noon-hour session will feature finalist presentations for the Whalen Symposium Awards.  There will also be a closing session, featuring the awards ceremony which will begin at 3:50 pm.
