The Ithaca College School of Business has joined the PhD Project, an organization whose mission is to increase the diversity of corporate America by increasing the diversity of business school faculty. Sean Reid, Dean of the School of Business, says, “I am very excited that Ithaca College has become a participating institution in the PhD Project. Our accrediting body, AACSB International and several partners including the KPMG Foundation, the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC), and the Citi Foundation established the PhD Project hopeful that a more diverse business faculty would lead to advances in workplace diversity. As a participating institution, the Ithaca College School of Business will have access to a talent pipeline of diverse business faculty who will better prepare our students for success as future business leaders.”

This decision is strategically important for the School of Business. In addition to an ongoing commitment to increasing the diversity of the faculty, the School is poised to make a number of key hires in the next few years. Dean Reid explained, “In the fiercely competitive market for the most talented business faculty, participation in the PhD Project is essential for Ithaca College. Access to candidates in the PhD Project will give us an edge in recruiting.” IC’s participation in the PhD Project is supported by the College’s ongoing diversity and inclusion efforts, specifically the office of Interim Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Roger “Doc” Richardson. “In their effort to identify and recruit diversity scholars for future faculty positions, the School of Business participation in The PhD Project strengthens Ithaca College’s commitment to foster a more diverse and inclusive faculty, an initiative that I am proud to be associated with,” Richardson said.
