SLPA Faculty, Students, Alumni, and Community Partners Present at the New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NYSSLHA) Annual Convention, April 8 - 9, in Saratoga Springs, New York.Contributed by Maureen Forrest on 04/11/16 Jana Waller, Tina Caswell, and Marie Sanford, SLPA clinical faculty members, and Christine Bainbridge, Speech-Language Pathologist in the Spencer Van-Etten School District, co-authored a two-hour seminar entitled, ICreate: Facilitating Change for Young Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)/Social Communication Disorders (SCD). Presenting authors described ICreate (Ithaca College Ready to Expand/Explore All Transition Experiences), a social communication support group to help young adults with ASD/SCD as they transition from high school into college, the workforce, and independent living. Poster presentations included: "Measuring Change in Social Communication Behaviors of Young Adults and Adolescents with ASD/SCD through Gender Matched Peer Models" co-authored by Clinical Faculty members Jana Waller, Tina Caswell, and Marie Sanford. “Let it STIC: A Model for Semantic Teaching in Creative Contexts” co-authored by SLPA alumni Cassandra Natali and SLPA graduate students Erica Pirolli and Kathleen O’Hara. “Creating a Mutually Sustainable SESSION: A Model for College Programs to Provide Interdisciplinary Salutary Services Internationally” co-authored by graduate student Kathleen O’Hara and Clinical Associate Professor Marie Sanford. “Streamlining Professional Collaboration within Investigative Child Interviewing Practices” co-authored by SLPA graduate student Caitlin Ross and Clinical Associate Professor Marie Sanford. |
