Screening and Discussion with Rodrigo Bellott '01

Please join the Park School of Communications in our downtown studio for a screening with the producer Rodrigo Bellott '01 of his film We Are What We Are on Thursday, April 21st at 5pm.  There will be a Q&A and discussion with Rodrigo directly following the screening. 

Rodrigo is one of the Park School's Professional-in-Residence, a program which brings in communications professionals, scholars, and entrepreneurs who can provide a unique perspectives and mentoring to our students.  

 

About the film:
We Are What We Are is a 2013 American cannibal horro film produced by Rodrigo Bellot '01 and directed by Jim Mickle. It was screened at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and in the Director's Fortnight section at the 2013 Cannes Film Fesitval.  It is a remake o the 2010 Mexican film of the same name.  Both a sequel and prequel have been announced. 


About the filmmaker:

Rodrigo Bellott is a Bolivian filmmaker recognized globally for his films. He graduated from Ithaca College in 2001 with his bachelor’s in Fine Arts in Art History, Photography, and Film. Known as one of Bolivia’s most prominent International Visual Artists, he has been featured in exhibitions all over South America and has won the Bolivian Art Biennial in 2005 and 2009.

Bellott is best known for his breakout hit "Sexual Dependency," which was released in 2003 and was Bolivia’s entry to the foreign film category of the 76th Academy Awards. The film won 17 awards and was viewed in over 65 film festivals around the world. The Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Indiewire and Time Out NY named “Sexual Dependency” as one of the 10 best films of 2004. Bellott also directed, "Who Killed the White Llama?" a knockabout road comedy that was the biggest box-office success in history of Bolivia among others.

Bellott’s films have been selected to compete in Cannes, Sundance, Berlin and the New York Film Festival. Bellott is also the founder of Bolivian BOLD Inc., his Production Company in New York. In addition to his filmmaking, Bellott recently published his first book, TU ME MANQUES.

When he’s not working on his own projects, Bellott has used his film expertise as an executive producer, casting director, consultant, and judge at film festivals on various top films of varying nationalities. Additionally, Bellott uses his experience to guest lecture at top film universities.
