CSCRE Discussion Series Will be Hosting a Luncheon: "More Than a Story of Oppression" - Presented by IC's Martin Luther King Jr. ScholarsContributed by Penny Bogardus on 04/19/16 Please join us for a complimentary luncheon on Thursday, April 21, 2016, from noon to 1 in Emerson Suite B. This presentation will focus on the various definitions of community and how experiences of oppressed groups go beyond that. Rather, they are stories of survival, resilience, and defiance. During this presentation, the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholars will demonstrate-- through spoken word and conduction of several staged interviews--personal experiences and observations made through their four years of their undergraduate studies here at Ithaca College. Through what they have learned, they will share what they have experienced and how it has shaped their views of social justice issues on both national and global levels as well as their personal identities. This event is free and open to both the IC Community and the general public. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Penny Bogardus at pbogardus@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-3153. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. |
