Talk to Your Children About Money

Contributed by Katie Sack on 04/15/16

National Financial Literacy Month is an effort to highlight the importance of financial literacy and teach individuals how to establish and maintain healthy financial habits.

Starting to teach children at a young age about the importance of saving and spending can have a positive impact on their financial future.

Here are a few resources and activities to help children learn about money matters:

  • Age-specific tips for teaching your child about spending, saving, and money management in practical ways (SmartAboutMoney).

  • Kids.gov has a variety of different tools for children K-5th grade.

  • 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy has a group of articles to help start the conversation with your children.
