Dr. Andrew Utterson, Assistant Professor of Screen Studies, recently published in peer-reviewed journal Quarterly Review of Film and Video.

Entitled "On the Movie Theater as Haunted Space: Spectral Spectatorship and Existential Historiography in Abbas Kiarostami's Shirin," Utterson's article analyzes a recent Iranian film, Shirin, to consider the changing nature of cinema with regard to the sites and experiences of theatrical exhibition and associated debates concerning what follows the so-called 'death' of a cinema rooted in the now 'haunted space' of the movie theater.
