Ithaca College is hosting Empire 8 postseason tournaments for softball, women's lacrosse, and men's lacrosse, with the winners advancing into the NCAA Division III tournament.

The Ithaca College men's and women's lacrosse teams, as well as the softball squad, will be hosting the annual Empire 8 postseason tournaments on campus this week. 

Softball (29-7, 13-1 Empire 8) claimed the Empire 8's regular season championship and the Bombers have won 13 of their last 14 games. Ithaca will play Alfred at 12 p.m. Friday in its first tournament game. The tournament action continues on Saturday and Sunday (if necessary). 

The winner of the postseason tournament earns the Empire 8's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III tournament.

On Wednesday, the No. 1 seeded Ithaca College men's lacrosse team (17-1) defeated St. John Fisher College 17-6 to advance into the conference championship. Junior Jack Shumway scored five goals with two assists and sophomore Jake Cotton added four goals with three assists as IC advanced into the title game for the fifth straight year.

The Bombers will host No. 3 Stevens Institute of Technology (14-4) at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the conference championship. Ithaca has won a school-record 15 straight games and is the No. 1 ranked team in the country for Division III.

For women's lacrosse, the Bombers (12-4, 8-0 Empire 8), ranked 19th in the country, claimed the Empire 8's regular season championship after Saturday's 12-11 win over St. John Fisher on Senior Day. IC will host the two-day conference tournament, which runs Saturday and Sunday at Higgins Stadium. 

No. 1 Ithaca hosts No. 4 Nazareth (11-5, 6-2 E8) in one semifinal at 11 a.m., with No. 2 Stevens (13-4, 6-2 E8) playing No. 3 St. John Fisher (14-3, 6-2 E8), at 1:30 p.m. in the second semifinal. 

The championship game is at 12 p.m. Sunday, with the winner advancing into the NCAA Division III tournament.
