Gerard Turbide Named Vice President for Enrollment ManagementContributed by David Maley on 05/11/16 Following a national search, Ithaca College has announced the appointment of Gerard Turbide as vice president for enrollment management. With more than two decades of experience in the college’s admission program, Turbide has served as interim vice president since June of 2015. He succeeds Eric Maguire, who accepted a position as vice president and dean of admission and financial aid at Franklin & Marshall College. The vice president for enrollment management oversees the Offices of Admission, Career Services, Enrollment Planning, Institutional Research and Student Financial Services in the development and implementation of programs and policies which serve to realize the college’s undergraduate and graduate student enrollment goals. “Gerard’s leadership of the enrollment management division this past year has received high marks not only from within his division but also across campus,” said Ithaca College President Tom Rochon. “I am pleased that Ithaca College will continue to benefit from his leadership and expertise for years to come.” Turbide held positions in the residential life offices at Bucknell and St. Lawrence Universities prior to joining the Ithaca College Office of Admission as assistant director in 1993. Rising through a series of progressively responsible roles, he was named director of admission in 2006. His accomplishments in leading the operation for the past decade include achieving sustained growth in both the number and academic quality of applicants, improving the racial and ethnic diversity of incoming classes, optimizing the impact and efficiency of enrollment strategies and enhancing a culture of data-driven decision-making. “Ithaca College is well positioned to play a lead role in higher education,” said Turbide. “The breadth, depth and quality of our academic programs, the energy and commitment of our faculty and staff, the excellence of our facilities, the character of our location and — most important — the vibrant community created by our students and alumni, will be the foundation for our success. I look forward to ongoing collaboration with members of our campus community moving forward.” Turbide earned his master of education degree in counseling and human development from St. Lawrence University and bachelor’s degree in mathematics from SUNY Potsdam. He has held leadership roles with the New York State Association of College Admission Counseling and served as a delegate to the National Association of College Admission Counseling.
