This year the college established a first-year student enrollment goal of between 1650 and 1675, and adopted a budget based on 1650. After accounting for summer melt, we anticipate that between 1610 and 1630 will enroll this fall. The college admission landscape is increasingly competitive, and this was an extraordinary year at Ithaca College. Our campus community is to be commended for this positive outcome. Throughout the spring, admitted students and their families visited campus. Our Ithaca Today and accepted student luncheon programs brought 1626 admitted students to campus. Of the students who have confirmed their plans to enroll, 956 participated in these important programs. The Division of Enrollment Management and the college leadership are grateful for the countless contributions current students, faculty, alumni and staff made to ensure these programs were successful. While the number of first-year students enrolled will fall somewhat short of our budgeted plan, efforts across campus to contain costs and limit spending should enable us to accommodate the resulting financial gap without requiring adjustments to next year’s budget. This, too, is an important way that every member of our faculty and staff are contributing to our long-term institutional health and sustainability. As is the case each summer, the offices of Admission and Student Financial Services are continuing their work with admitted students, and collaborating with deans, faculty and offices across campus to welcome and orient our incoming students to their new home. We recognize and appreciate the efforts underway to engage and retain the new members of the IC community. Best wishes for an enjoyable and productive summer! Gerald L.
