The Finger Lakes Project: A 2-day interactive training workshop at Wells College in Aurora, July 14-15, 2016

Join us for an inspiring opportunity to:

  • Deepen your understanding of Education for Sustainability (EfS)
  • Receive coaching to develop outcome-based lesson plans that integrate sustainability education into your curriculum and content.
  • Experience models for integrating content from the three “pillars” of sustainability education (social justice, science and economics) into your classes.
  • Explore curriculum models that integrate diverse modalities into age-appropriate, engaging, content-rich and complex learning.
  • Be trained in constructivist media decoding that integrates critical literacy and content knowledge into your EfS toolkit.
  • Practice classroom-based questioning strategies.
  • Explore and evaluate models for inquiry-based pedagogy.

Does the Finger Lakes Project (FLP) sound familiar? It should! It was offered at Ithaca College with external funding from the NSF and the HSBC in the Community Foundation from 2005-2013. As far as we know, the Finger Lakes Project is the only such specialized sustainability curriculum development workshop offered within New York State and perhaps even within the Northeast U.S.! You can find more info about prior workshops here. With permission from the IC faculty members who developed the program, Well's College's Center for Sustainability and the Environment is carrying forward this initiative to provide high quality trainings in Education for Sustainability (EfS) with the generous support of the Jephson Educational Trust.

We hope you will join us!
