Update on Progress on our Middle States Accreditation Self-StudyContributed by Luke Keller on 06/06/16
We are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed the first of four stages of the self-study for reaffirmation of accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (Middle States). We need your help for the next stage. During the past semester the Working Groups and Steering Committee compiled our Self-Study Design and a detailed list of documentation and evidence for demonstrating our compliance with the accreditation standards. Our Middle States liaison, Dr. Tito Guerrero, has reviewed our Self-Study Design and accepted it commenting that he found it exceptionally thorough and strong. We thank all of the Working Group members and the Steering Committee for their hard work. The next stage is to gather all of the documentation and evidence that the Working Groups have requested to study as they draft their reports during the fall 2016 semester. You can help with this process: While much of the documentation we seek to collect exists and is relatively easy to find, some will require our cooperation with individuals and groups in the campus community. You may be contacted over the next several weeks with a request for documentation that provides evidence for part of the self-study. For example we may need your assistance in locating reports, meeting minutes, policies or procedures, assessment reports, etc. Educational Affairs Administrative Assistant, Noel Wheeler, will lead the documentation collection process. We ask that you try to help her find the requested documents or to suggest alternative evidence if you know of any better solutions. If you have questions or suggestions about this process at any time, please contact Luke Keller or Bonnie Solt-Prunty, co-chairs of the Middle States Self-Study. Once we have the documentation/evidence collected the Working Groups will draft reports demonstrating compliance with the 7 Middle States Standards of Accreditation. Those reports will be combined into our Self Study Report in the fall of 2017 at which time we will invite the entire campus community to comment and make suggestions for improvement of the report. The final stage of the process will commence in early 2018 when we send the final Self-Study Report to our peer review team who will study the report, conduct their campus visit, and submit their recommendations to the Middle States Commission. Thanks very in much in advance for your assistance with the documentation collecting process. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Luke Keller at lkeller@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-3966.. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. |
