National Men's Health Week

Contributed by Katie Sack on 06/13/16

National Men’s Health Week is this week culminating in Father’s day on Sunday. The purpose of the week is to heighten the awareness of preventable health conditions and encourage early detection and treatment in men.

This program has been ongoing since 1994 and continues to get bigger and bigger every year. Men’s health is not just a personal issue it is a family issue and needs to be talked about. Some things they recommend you think about during National Men’s Health Week is getting a regular check-up, having a prostate exam, and educating yourself about testicular cancer. On average, American men live sicker and die younger than American women but this could be easily fixed with a larger focus on the importance of men’s health.
