The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management is pleased to announce the following appointments of two talented and longstanding members: Sergeant/Investigator Tom Dunn to Lieutenant; and, Master Patrol Officer Donald Lyke to Sergeant.    

Tom Dunn has served the campus community for more than 28 years, beginning his career with Public Safety as a member of the Student Auxiliary Safety Patrol (SASP). Tom has advanced through the ranks during his time with the Department, serving in various capacities, including a Dispatcher, Security Officer, Patrol Officer, Sergeant, and finally, Investigator (since 2001). Lieutenant Dunn will serve as a member of the administration/leadership team in his new role. While much of Tom’s existing duties and responsibilities will remain the same, he will take on additional work, including the implementation of the body worn cameras and other key initiatives currently underway. Please join me in congratulating Tom on this well-deserved promotion. 

Don Lyke has served the campus community for more than 18 years, beginning his career with Public Safety as a Security Officer and advancing through the ranks to Master Security Officer, to Patrol Officer, and finally, Master Patrol Officer (since 2005). Sergeant Lyke will be assigned to road patrol as a front line supervisor and replaces Sergeant Dirk Hightchew who retired earlier this year. Please join me in congratulating Don on this well-deserved promotion.

With these two appointments in place, the Department will be moving to search the (Operations) Lieutenant previously held by Bill Kerry.  If you are interested in serving on the Search Committee for this position, please contact me directly at tastewart@ithaca.edu
