The Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) group is happy to announce that we have successfully implemented our new video system across campus inside Sakai as well as through the web portal http://media.ithaca.edu Last semester, we saw tremendous growth in the adoption of the web portal. Several departments are using the system to share and collaborate within our community. Now that students, faculty, and staff are working digitally, sharing, managing, and delivering media is easier than ever. This reduces the cost of physical media like DVDs and CDs, which are hard to share. Now that media tools are integrated with Sakai, using media in your class page is supercharged for media. You can manage your video inside Sakai, host a class media gallery, and create content including interactive quizzes! No more restrictions on file sizes and no more headaches with inconsistent playback. Now you can upload large media files and still have proper playback on computers and mobile devices. All you need is an internet connection. This system will give faculty the tools to engage students with media and open new avenues for collaboration in the physical and beyond. If you are interested in learning more about either Sakai or the web portal, there are video tutorials at the following links: For Sakai: https://sites.google.com/site/sakaithaca/video For media.ithaca.edu: https://media.ithaca.edu/category/Media+Services+%28Kaltura%29/38123261 If you would like to schedule time for an individual session, please contact the service desk at 607-274-1000 or servicedesk@ithaca.edu. The Teaching and Learning with Technology group is one of four units in the newly reorganized Digital Instruction and Information Services. Our goal is to provide vision, leadership, and direction in the development, management, and evaluation of all technology services and technologies that support teaching, learning, and research. |
