Ithaca College’s first World Music Festival (Sunday, October 23, 2016)Contributed by Sara Jacobs on 10/18/16 Sunday, October 23, 2016 Ithaca College campus Co-sponsored by the School of Music and Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF) All day - starting at 11am and finishing with the spectacular concluding concert at 7:30PM. Exact schedule for the day will be available soon. Music from around the world: America, Africa, Trinidad, Japan, India, Brazil and Argentina Artists from Ithaca and around the country: -Gordon Stout (Ithaca College). Choro music from Argentina on marimba. -Baruch Whitehead (Ithaca College). African Dance and Drumming music. -Valerie Naranjo and Barry Olsen (NYC). African music. American Indian music. -Dane Richeson (Lawrence University). African and Brazilian music. -Yamatai (Cornell University). Japanese Taiko music. -Abhik Mukerjee (sitar) and Dibyarka Chatterjee (tabla). Hindustani music concert, hosted by Denise Nuttall (Chair of Department of Anthropology, Ithaca College). -The Howlin’ Brothers (Nashville, TN). Oletime Bluegrass, Country Blues music. -The New Roots Charter School Steel Band and David Ferreira (Ithaca, NY). Trinidadian music. -Conrad Alexander (Ithaca College). Drum circle music.
