The Ithaca College community is invited to participate in the Second Annual Symposia on Inclusion, Cultural Fluency, and Global Citizenship.  Several events will be offered this year and the first will be held on Monday, September 26, 3:00-6:00 pm, in Klingenstein Lounge. 

The Center for Faculty Excellence, the Office of the Associate Provost for Diversity and Inclusion, and the Office of International Programs and Extended Studies are collaborating to facilitate the continuation of the conversation we began last September. This year, we propose to underscore more pointedly the relationship between domestic inclusion and global citizenship in keeping with the expectations of our institutional mission.

Please reserve these dates on your calendar:

  • Monday, September 26, 3:00-6:00 pm in Klingenstein Lounge:  Our guest presenter, Dr. Aziz Rana, will speak on “Black Internationalism and the Legacy of the Civil Rights Movement” .  A panel and facilitated discussion moderated by Dr. Peyi Soyinka-Airewele will follow, with panelists: Dr. Stewart Auyash, Dr. Sean Eversley Bradwell, and Dr. Carlos Figueroa.  Light refreshments will be provided.

The second and third events for the Fall 2016 semester will be held:

  • Monday, October 24, 1:00-4:00 pm in Clark and Klingenstein. Events held in collaboration with the FLEFF (Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival) Forum and participating faculty.  The speakers and discussion will focus on the FLEFF theme for this year, Geographies.  The afternoon symposium will be followed by the annual CFE Wine and Cheese Reception for all our faculty members and we hope you will attend. Specifically, the schedule includes:
    • 1pm: FLEFF Forum: Geographies of Inclusion
    • 2pm: FLEFF Forum: Geographies of Cultural Fluency
    • 3pm: FLEFF Forum: Geographies of Global Citizenship
  • Monday, November 28, from 3pm to 6pm in Klingenstein: planning still in progress -please hold the date!  More information will be provided soon.
