You worked hard to plan your event and create promotional materials to advertise it around campus. Then you post it here to Intercom, where it can quickly get buried by so many other posts, might go unnoticed in the thrice-weekly roundups, and can be difficult to find again should someone forget the event details.

Give your events the exposure they deserve by posting them to the college’s online events calendar, where they can be easily seen, browsed, and displayed.

Adding events is easy, and anyone with a valid IC Netpass can do so. Users will be able to search your events by date, event type, and even venue!

Select events are now being displayed on the college homepage, and featured in the IC Current e-newsletter. The only way to have your event featured in these places is to make sure they’re in the events calendar!

Tips for adding events:

  • Be as detailed as possible with event titles and descriptions.

  • Pick as many event-type filters as you think apply to your event.

  • Post a photo or image with your event. Planning a movie screening? Upload promotional material from the movie. Having a book reading? Upload a picture of the book cover or author.

  • Posting events for your student organization? Have a Group Profile created for your org. Email events@ithaca.edu for more information.

  • Did you create an event page in Facebook? You can add the FB URL and connect it to your IC events calendar listing.

  • Submit your event at least a week in advance (even further out is better), as it may take a day or two to pass through the approval queue. (In a similar vein, don’t post an event for the upcoming weekend on a Friday.)
