U-Lot (Campus Center Parking Lot) Closed Wednesday, 9/28Contributed by Andrew Kosinuk on 09/27/16 On Wednesday, September 28, the U-Lot (Campus Center) parking lot will be serving as reserved special event parking for the day. Individuals typically parking in this lot will need to utilize other campus parking options until U-Lot re-opens for general usage at approximately 4:00 p.m. Individuals needing to access handicapped parking within the lot can continue to enter the lot and use those spaces by speaking with the lot attendant. Additionally, a small section of O-Lot will be closed to serve as overflow parking for this event. We ask that individuals please not tamper with the barricades in that area of O-Lot to keep those spaces closed. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. I know I'm new here, but since the Blue Lot is so much smaller than the Red Lot in O, shouldn't the overflow happen there? As it is, faculty have no place to park, either in U or O. If I get a ticket for parking in a red lot, I'm going to be very upset...

Thanks very much for this comment. The fact that both O-
Lot sections that were selected were blue sections was definitely a miss, and we will absolutely look at more equitable approaches to that for similar events in the future. If you are new to IC, please know that there are several other lots on campus that are fully or partially blue, including some of campus's largest lots in F-Lot and J-Lot. Staff and faculty who find their typical parking areas reserved should still seek other blue lot options, not park in a red zone. Thank you so much for taking the time to offer this helpful feedback! |
