Submitted on behalf of Terri A. Stewart, Director and Chief, Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management

In light of the homicide of an Ithaca College student that occurred on the Cornell University campus last month, the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management wants to make the Ithaca College community aware of a stabbing incident that occurred on East Hill near the Cornell University campus on the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016.

According to a Cornell Emergency Alert message, at 7:43 p.m., law enforcement agencies responded to a reported stabbing in the 400 block of Stewart Ave. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. According to Ithaca Police Department the victim is a 27 year old Town of Dryden resident.  The victim is expected to recover.

The message noted that witnesses described the suspects as two black males, one possibly wearing a red shirt and the other with a “man bun.” The perpetrators reportedly fled in the direction of the cemetery on Stewart Ave.

At this time Ithaca Police Investigators do not believe this incident is connected to the murder of Anthony Nazaire ’19.  The police investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Ithaca Police Department at 607-272-3245.

The complete alert, along with any updates, can be found at emergency.cornell.edu.

Members of the Ithaca College community are reminded to always be aware of their surroundings—both on and off campus—and to immediately report all unusual or suspicious persons, vehicles, and activity.
