Ithaca College

Following a national search, Dr. Yuko Mulugetta has been named Chief Analytics Officer at Ithaca College.  In this new role, Dr. Mulugetta will oversee the Office of Analytics and Research (formerly Institutional Research), and collaborate extensively across the college so that we can expand our understanding of the student experience, student learning outcomes, and student success.  As Chief Analytics Officer, Dr. Mulugetta will lead efforts to develop data standards across campus, and work with a wide range of constituents to apply predictive analysis to inform our decision making.

Yuko Mulugetta holds a B.A. from Tsuda College in Tokyo, an M.B.A. from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management, and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication, with a concentration in Public Opinion Survey and Statistical Research.  She has extensive experience in research, forecasting and strategic planning at Cornell University as Director of Research and Planning Analysis for Admissions and Financial Aid, at Corning Incorporated as Senior Global Market Forecaster for the Optical Fiber Division, and at Ithaca College. Her relationship with IC is longstanding:  She served as an adjunct professor in 1984 in the Roy H. Park School of Communications, and has served as our Director of Enrollment Planning since 2010.  

A recognized leader in the field of predictive analytics technology, Dr. Mulugetta has authored or co-authored nearly forty research publications.  Her research on test-optional admission has earned awards from the North East Association for Institutional Research, and her webinar and conference presentations on predictive analytics in higher education led to IBM granting their highest recognition award to Ithaca College’s Division of Enrollment Management in 2014.
