ITHACA, NY– Eugene Ionesco’s anti-play is set to take the stage at the Earl McCarroll Studio Theatre as Ithaca College Theatre presents "The Bald Soprano." Performances will be held at the Earl McCarroll Studio Theatre in Dillingham Center on Saturday, October 8th at 8pm, Sunday the 9th at 2pm and 8pm, and Monday, October 10th at 8pm. Ticket are free and can be reserved here. Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

"The Bald Soprano" is a defining work of the “Theatre of the Absurd” artistic movement. Theatre of the Absurd focuses on the moment when human existence has no meaning and language is broken down, attacking the comfortable certainties to which audiences cling. Surprising and humorous, "The Bald Soprano’s" characters engage in meaningless banter throughout the entire show.

Director Rachael Langton ‘17 explores Ionesco’s world and attempts to answer the question: how do we make sense in a world of chaos? Her response is to fully embrace and experience the chaos. Langton relates the play to the typical response to conflict, “we go to polar extremes...but can we live with these two truths simultaneously: that which we perceive and live with and the other’s perception of the world as well?”

The cast of "The Bald Soprano" includes Will Champion ‘18, Molly Makowiec ‘17, Jacob Froehlich ‘19, Lydia Flock ‘18, Oghenero Gbaje ‘17, Iris Garrison-Driscoll ‘17, Jordan Sledd ‘20, Avery Lynch ‘20, Skyler Sims-Dickson ‘20, and Sushma Saha ‘20.

"The Bald Soprano’s" creative team includes Rachael Langton ‘17, Jessica Murray ‘17, Kathryn McGeorge ‘17, Ron Ziomek ‘19, and Nicholas Pallatella ‘18.
