Please join the State Society on Aging (SSA) of New York for an awards luncheon celebrating the 2016 award recipients on Friday, October 28 from 12:00-1:30 in Emerson Suite B:

SSA Undergraduate Paper Award: Danen Danielak

SSA Graduate Paper Award: Suzanna Katz

Walter Beattie Award: James O’Neal

President’s Award: Dr. Karl Pillemer, PhD

Advocate for Older Adults Award: Dr. Bill Thomas, MD 

Danen Danielak is a 2016 graduate of SUNY Brockport and is working as a Guardianship Case Manager for Catholic Family Center of Rochester.

Suzanna Katz is a graduate student in the Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service.

James O’Neal is an independent consultant on older adult issues.  He began his community healthcare career with Oxford Health Plans, and assisted in establishing VNS CHOICE Managed Long-Term Care Plan at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York.  Mr. O’Neal is being honored for his long-term commitment to the State Society on Aging.

Dr. Karl Pillemer, PhD, is the Director of the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research, Hazel E. Reed Professor in the Department of Human Development, and Professor of Gerontology in Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Bill Thomas, MD, is an author, entrepreneur, musician, teacher, farmer and physician whose wide-ranging work explores the terrain of human aging.  He is the found of the global non-profit Eden Alternative and the creator of The Green House.
