Come Check Out the New ENVS Undergraduate Journal alluvian.spaceContributed by Cheryl Gunther on 10/20/16 Alluvian, the environmental journal affiliated with the Environmental Studies and Sciences Department at Ithaca College, published its first online issue on Oct. 20th. In this first issue --Nature and the City-- journalistic articles, art, creative nonfiction, science work, and fiction and poetry pieces explore the human/nature boundaries within urban and virtual space. The contributing undergraduates for the first issue are from all over -- Ithaca College, Virginia Tech, University of Washington–Seattle, and the University of London. Alluvian, while based in Ithaca, N.Y., prides itself in representing natural and environmental writing from undergraduate students everywhere. Alluvian is currently accepting rolling submissions -- art, environmental non-fiction, poetry, and environmental science writing from passionate students. Created by Ithaca College students Peter Zibinski and Sydney O’Shaughnessy under the direction of Assistant Professor Fae Dremock, Alluvian attempts to blend art with science to enhance the understanding of environmental issues within contemporary society.
