Latin American Studies Reception and Faculty-Student Report from the Arizona-Mexico BorderContributed by Patricia Rodriguez on 11/02/16 Two faculty (Profs. Robyn Wishna and Patricia Rodriguez) and four students (Anna Gardner, Juliana Ardila, Theophilus Alexander and Elena Piech) attended the School of the Americas Watch Convergence on the Border in Nogales, Arizona/Sonora from Oct. 7-10. The SOAW convergence centered attention on understanding the roots of migration, the human rights problems, and the work (especially) of women activists who work on different aspects of the migratory process. Please join us in Park Hall 223 on Monday, Nov. 7 from 5:30-7 p.m. for a light food reception to meet faculty and students in the Latin American Studies minor. This will be followed by a presentation of the faculty and student projects and impressions, as well as a Q&A. Sponsored/or supported by: Latin American Studies, H&S Dean’s Office, Roy H. Park School of Communications, Center for Faculty Excellence, Janet Kalinowski Student Development Fund, Women and Gender Studies Department, Politics Department. See listing on the Events Calendar. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Patricia Rodriguez at prodriguez@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-5714.
