Entanglements: Prints and Drawings by Professor Pamela Drix Entanglements opening at Damiani Winecellers this Friday, Dec. 9, 5-7 pm. Exhibit Dates: Dec. 1 - 31 Damiani Wine Cellars is located at 4704 Rt. 414, Burdett, NY 14841 This series of prints and drawings, developed over six months, address the complexities of landscape we experience everyday. I have taken a measure of this land, the Finger Lakes region of New York, as my subject. Because of the wine industry, the commercial engine of our region, the structure and function of the grapevine organizes our lives in intricate ways. I use this idea as a metaphor to investigate the cultural, social, historic interconnections of this place I call home. The natural entanglements of lives and land play out here. The linear movements of the grapevine provide a spatial interplay between organic and inorganic forms. In essence, these pieces reflect my deep love of this land and its people -- of the past, present, and future. |
