Lecturer Katie Ballantyne was a featured presenter at the November 2016 TEDx Chemung River conference.

Her talk, “Yes, No, And: Three Words for a Creative and Purposeful Life,” centered around her personal artistic philosophy, and highlighted the recent premiere of her work for mezzo-soprano and orchestra, “From Shale Rock We Rise,” with text by local poet Melissa Tuckey. Professor Ivy Walz was the mezzo-soprano featured on “From Shale Rock We Rise.”
 
Katie Ballantyne teaches a variety of aural skills and music theory courses in the School of Music.
