10 Minutes of Q&A
- Conor: Question for all three, what bills would you like to present or work on?
- Cal: I went to a couple of environmental betterment committee meetings last semester, so i would like to push a lot of sustainable initiatives on campus. Also the alternative coffee bill is still in progress.
- Francesca: I would like to address parking, because I know that is a major issue for off-campus students.
- Darius: I think we should make sure that funding for the arts is kept and opportunities for master classes. Give the opportunity for the community to embrace IC School of Music more.
- Anna: What are some other things you feel are important for class of 2019? (Cal)
- Cal: I want to get more dialogue created between administration and students and I know that responsibility falls on the SGC. I know students complain about weekend food on campus - limited hours and limited choices, I want to advance that agenda. Make funding a more accessible/tangible thing to students so they can voice any issues they have with how administration spends money
- Cat: I know a struggle is engaging with your constituency, what would your plan be to engage with constituency?
- Francesca: I would make a public profile, and other forms of social media, I have an office downstairs so I could hold office hours.
- Darius: I could also present office hours, I have been able to use social media as a force - social activist online. I’m also an extremely personable person. I communicate on behalf of the school when I took over the instagram, and have proofread essays for prospective students who are now accepted.
- Cal: I am a huge fan of using social media in a responsible way. I do believe that doing office hours, I would love to do that. I want to make sure that I am not just one dimensional.
- Mike: Cal, when you think of communication between the administration on campus, what do you envision?
- Cal: I am not sure how far we would take it yet, I imagine a lot of dialogue and perhaps meetings with the provost.
- Michele: What do you mean by dialog? (Cal)
- Cal: I feel like there is a lot of disconnect here. I want to figure out a way how we can get the two parties on the same page to make sure they know they are on each others backs.
- Michele: What makes you think that work isn't happening?
- Cal: I hear my peers talk about the lack of connection.

Sponsored by: Friend
- Adopting things that are in OSEMA’s handbook, not stated in the allocations handbook
- We do abide by OSEMA’s policies
- IC provides a website for Student Orgs
5 Minutes of Q&A
- Michele: I understand the understanding clause, but there seems to be nothing explaining why the section about websites is there. Website funding?
- Conor: We are referring to a website that any organization might have. Anything else in regards to an organization website, if an organization has its own website, whatever maintenance or cost that goes into that website cannot be funded by us.
- Fatoumata: What types of websites are you referring to?
- Conor: We can not fund anything at all that is put into their website.
Motion to move to discussion: Jonathan
Second: Mara
Discussion
- Charlie: I am curious why is this necessary? Why is it so important to be on the same plane as OSEMA?
- Seandre: It is for the purpose of being consistent so we are not biased.
- Conor: If you are going to hire a student through a student org, you have to meet with OSEMA first.
- Fatoumata: Motion to put “Personal Website” for clarification (Section II, Article I)
- Second: Mike
- In Favor: 9
- Opposed: 7
- Abstaining: 6
- Tyler: This seems less of a financial problem and more of an equality problem. It seems it is more about having all of these organizations equal.
- Seandre: This is for the main purpose of consistency.
- Michele: Many student publications might rely on the college for their website, that might infringe on their independence from the college.
- Seandre: The allocations money comes from the college.
In favor of passing the bill: 17
Opposed: 0
Abstaining: 5
