The Student Governance Council scholarships were created to recognize and support students with excellent academic performance, and who are involved with student organizations or other leadership-oriented activities on campus. It is in the spirit of leadership and involvement, and the great things that can be accomplished with their proper application, that this scholarship is given.
Available are two scholarships with the descriptions below:
Margaret A. Reid Memorial Scholarship:
- Margaret A. Reid was an Ithaca College student and the bookkeeper on the Executive Board of the Student Government Association as a sophomore for the 1984-1985 academic year. Margaret was a very involved citizen throughout her life, being active in Girl Scouts in her early years, and taking dance lessons from kindergarten through high school. She was also proficient in the flute and piano. Her mother described their household as: “like Grand Central Station, with her many friends coming in and out, or telephoning.” Shortly after returning home for the summer before her junior year, Margaret passed away due to a small and undetected tumor in her brain. She donated her corneas and kidneys to those in need.
