Have you ever been told by a health care professional that you:

  • Are at risk for getting diabetes?
  • Have prediabetes?
  • Have high blood sugar or glucose?
  • Had gestational diabetes?

If you answered “yes”, you may be at high risk for type 2 diabetes, however, there is something you can do about it! The National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, can help you make the necessary life-style changes to prevent type 2 diabetes. The one year program is led by a trained Lifestyle Coach who works weekly with a group, and then monthly during a maintenance phase.

This program is offered in Tompkins County and classes are starting this spring.

Please call the Tompkins County Health Department (Susan Dunlop at 274-6710) or the Cayuga Center for Healthy Living (Jamie Balas at 252-3590) to find out how you can enroll.
