Participants will be excluded from the study for the following: (1) history of trauma to head, neck, or back within 6 months, (2) presence of neurological symptoms of the upper quarter, such as pain, numbness or tingling of the arms, upper back or neck (3) self-reported diagnosis of structural scoliosis, (4) neck or head pain that is constant in nature and/or regularly an intensity >7/10, (5) diagnosis of fibromyalgia or self-report of chronic widespread pain, (6) evidence of recent infection, including fever, body aches, malaise, swollen cervical and/or facial lymph nodes, (7) diagnosis of migraine, (8) currently receiving treatment for neck pain and/or headaches, (9) any previous neck or back surgery, (10) allergy to isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.

This study involves a taking short online survey regarding your neck pain and/or headaches, and your general health to determine if you are someone fit to be screened for further participation. For those people who meet eligibility criteria, a short in-person screening exam will be completed to determine eligibility to participate in the study. In the event you are eligible, you will be asked to participate in two testing and data collection sessions.

Testing and data collection will take place in the Center for Health Sciences Movement Analysis Lab, Room 102, and will take between 90-100 minutes for the first session and 30-40 minutes for the second session. Participants must be willing to have an electrode attached to the skin, which will measure the electrical activity in the muscle and will not produce electricity or deliver a shock. Participants must also be willing to have elastic tape (kinesio tape) applied to their neck region and left in place for up to 24 hours.
