Peter Silberman, Associate Professor of Music Theory, presented a talk based on an Ithaca College course he developed at the annual meeting of the South Central Society for Music Theory in Memphis, TN, on March 18.

Silberman's talk, entitled "Teaching Musical Borrowing in the Music Theory Classroom," discussed a seminar on musical borrowing (incorporating material from an earlier composition into a newer composition, such as sampling or quotation) that he developed and taught during the fall 2015 semester.  The talk included a course overview, an explanation of course goals, a presentation of new methodologies for musical analysis created for the course, and samples of student work and student comments.
