Patricia Zimmermann, professor of screen studies and codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental  Film Festival, and Claudia Costa  Pederson, assistant professor of art history at Wichita State University published a chapter analyzing the experimental media work of French Canadian artist Vincent Grenier.

Their chapter, “Habitats of Documentary:  Landscapes, Color Fields, and Ecologies in the Avant-Docs of Vincent Grenier,” appeared in The Philosophy of Documentary Film: Image, Sound, Fiction, Truth (New York: Lexington Books, 2017), edited by David LaRocca.

Grenier was a featured artist at the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival in 2015, where the ideas and research for this essay analyzing the interrelationships between landscape, built environments, habitats, new technologies, ecologies, and formal strategies in his vast opus of work were first considered.
