Parnassus Core Apps and HomerAdmin - Web Browser Changes/RequirementsContributed by Karen Compton on 03/30/17 Note: This information only applies to Parnassus "core apps" users, and HomerAdmin users. It does not impact users of basic Parnassus functions (the "self-service" tools such as time card submission) or HomerConnect. Parnassus core apps and HomerAdmin require the use of a Java plug-in. Until recently, either Internet Explorer or Firefox (for Windows) or Safari or Firefox (for Macs), were able to be used to access Parnassus core apps or HomerAdmin. The latest version of Firefox, version 52, no longer supports the necessary Java plug-in, leaving Internet Explorer (Windows) and Safari (Macs) as the only browsers that will be able to access Parnassus core apps and HomerAdmin. Firefox may still be working for some users if Firefox has not yet updated itself to version 52, but we expect that Firefox will automatically upgrade to the newer version for all users in the near future. Chrome has not worked with Parnassus core apps or HomerAdmin since 2015. Removal of plug-in support from Firefox may also impact other IC systems that require Java. For Parnassus "self-service" and HomerConnect users, any of the popular browsers can be used to access these applications. See the Enterprise Systems site for detailed information about system requirements. Digital Instruction and Information Services (DIIS) |
