In an effort to support the increasing growth of conferences and events occurring at Ithaca College during the summer, Parking Services has collaborated with Campus Center and Event Services to create new summer parking restrictions that are more hospitable to the many visitors that are attracted to come to Ithaca College over the summer.  The goal of this change is to create a more welcoming environment for our summer guests who are unfamiliar with our campus.  These changes are feasible given the significant reduction of faculty, staff and students accessing parking facilities on campus during the summer months.

The following summer parking restrictions will be implemented beginning this summer:

  • Academic year parking permit restriction (Blue, Red and Green) will not be in effect during the summer parking season.
  • The summer parking season will be from commencement weekend until fall opening day.  The dates this year are from Saturday May 20th through Sunday August 27th.
  • Anyone with or without a parking permit would be able to park in any legal space on campus.
  • Parking Services will no longer sell students summer parking permits since no permit will be required to park on campus.
  • Campus Center and Event Services will no long issue parking permits to conference attendees.
  • Summer parking enforcement will be limited to fire lanes, no parking zones, timed spaces, accessible spaces and other reserve spaces and lots.
  • Anyone parking on Ithaca College campus will need to adhere to restrictions in lots that are closed for events and construction.

I once got a ticket for parking after 5pm in a blue lot because I didn't display my
permit, on the grounds that if you have a permit you must display it no matter
what.

Do I understand from the above that this is no longer the case over the summer?

What a great change! I applaud the people who came to this very reasonable
decision. Better for everyone.
