The Shared Governance Task Force (SGTF) would like to take this opportunity to provide the campus community with an update on our work. We have received feedback on the second draft of the proposed charter and we met during the week of April 3 to review the feedback and determine appropriate next steps. The SGTF will be presenting the proposed charter as well as all campus feedback to the Board of Trustees in May. We had originally planned to conduct a campus opinion poll to gauge support of the proposed charter. However, based on the limited responses received on the last survey, the SGTF decided to forego this poll and share with the Board the valuable feedback we have received over the entirety of this process. It is important to note that the SGTF is not proposing to adopt the charter, but rather is presenting our work to date and the campus feedback. The SGTF will be preparing a summary of its work that will include the most recent draft, the FAQ document and a summary of all feedback gathered during this process (from the 13 feedback sessions in the fall, the fall online survey, spring online survey, and from Faculty Council and H&S Senate). This summary will also include feedback themes brought to light in the process, as well as recommendations for how to continue to move the campus forward regarding shared governance. In response to the initial charge from the Board in October of 2015, this summary will be shared with the Board of Trustees at the May 2017 meeting and with the campus community shortly thereafter. We thank you for your participation and valuable input in this important process. We also wish to acknowledge the numerous campus community members who have contributed to shared governance via working groups, committees and other forms of participation over many years at Ithaca College. While this has been a challenging process, it is very clear that our campus is committed to moving forward toward an inclusive governance structure.
