Embrace your inner public health nerdiness this summer, and earn credit toward your World of Systems, social science perspective! Health (HLTH) 117: Foundations of Public Health provides an engaging look at population health issues that impact each one of us on a daily basis.

Join us online for the month of June to learn about how your behaviors or where you live can impact your life expectancy. Consider too how health inequities can be driven by class, race, and gender. Delve into the case of "Typhoid Mary" to better understand how disease spreads and how public health intervenes to protect populations. Understand why it's so hard to stop drinking all that soda, and the tactics public health uses to get you to do so. Immerse yourself in a bioterrorism event and how you might respond as a public health official. Debate the ethics behind how food products are labeled. You'll never take a toilet or clean water for granted again once you finish this course!
