The Red Flag Campaign at IC

Contributed by RahK Lash on 07/11/17

The Red Flag Campaign is a community-level strategy designed to build bystander intervention skills and prevent sexual assault and dating violence at Ithaca College, sponsored by The Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs (OSEMA).

The Campaign will provide prevention education opportunities and encourage campus community members to do something when we witness "red flags." TRFC highlights year-round programming that supports the work against a culture of violence and

  • is designed for all campus members including the friends/peers of survivors and perpetrators of dating violence and sexual assault.
  • takes a prevention approach to the issues.
  • educates the campus community about the “red flags” (warning indicators) of dating violence, highlights the characteristics of healthy relationships and how individuals can avoid creating red flags in their relationships.
  • encourages our campus community members to “do something” (i.e. intervene in the situation).

As a partnership with SHARE, we are gathering information on the current events, programs, and resources that are already in place and established.

How You Can Help

  • Join the Orgsync portal today. https://orgsync.com/161294/chapter  (sign in to your account, first). All the information for upcoming events and online resources will be stored here. The portal is still being updated over the summer as we are building this initiative.
  • Encourage your office, department, colleagues, and other IC community members to join the Orgsync portal to access information on upcoming events and resources.
  • Encourage students to complete the “Campus Clarity” this fall; an online training that covers sexual assault and violence prevention as well as bystander intervention. More details to come.
  • Let us know what programs or events your office, department, area, or group sponsors or will host this coming academic year. You can email osema@ithaca.edu or upload your details THIS FORM.
  • Share any resources for our online library housed in the Orgsync portal. These resources can be articles, info-graphics, videos, suggested book lists, suggested speakers or guests, local education opportunities (on and off campus), and etc. You may share resources HERE.
  • Begin to consider how you can incorporate sexual assault and dating violence prevention education in your office, department, or area.

We appreciate your continued support and investment in the safety of our IC community.   -The OSEMA Staff
