There’s still time to enroll in an engaging new Native American and Indigenous Studies course offered through Anthropology: ANTH 30100 - Race, Culture, and Indigeneity

This seminar is taught by Dr. Iokepa Casumbal-Salazar (Kanaka ʻŌiwi, Hawaiʻi), the new Native American and Indigenous Studies Professor in the Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity.  This engaging class explores contemporary issues, concepts, and debates concerning Indigenous peoples within the context of U.S. colonialism.

Some of the important topics covered include settler colonialism, decolonization and Indigenous resurgence, cultural revitalization and preservation, constructions of “tradition” and “modernity” within American racial imaginaries, and struggles over Native claims to land and sovereignty. 

The only prerequisite is at least Sophomore standing.
