Information Technology is pleased to announce that the Service Desk now has a call waiting (hold) feature in addition to the option to leave a voice mail message.

While we make every effort to answer incoming calls immediately, during times of high call volume or reduced staffing, that may not always be possible. If a consultant is not available to take your call right away, you'll hear a greeting offering you the options of pressing 1 to hold or leaving a voice mail message at the tone.

When possible, we encourage you to hold. It is most efficient for all of us to assist you when you first call, rather than trying to return your call at a time that may not be convenient for you. Please note that once in "hold" mode, there is no option to leave a voice mail message. If the wait is longer than you are comfortable with you can either try later, call us back and choose the option to leave a voice mail message, or send an email to servicedesk@ithaca.edu.

We hope that you find the new call waiting option to be an improvement of our phone service. Should you experience any problems with this new functionality, please report them to Karen Sunderland (ksunderland@ithaca.edu).
