Mary Ann Rishel, Emerita, Writing Dept, presented the paper, “A Unified Theory of Humor:  Are we there yet?” at the International Society for Humor Studies Conference held this July at the University of Quebec, Montreal.  Also, her book, Writing Humor:  Creativity and the Comic Mind, was selected by Bob Mankoff, cartoon editor for the New Yorker, as a theoretical base for his international TED presentation, “Anatomy of a New Yorker Cartoon.”  He also selected her book as a text for his humor class at Michigan State.
